More from 30 days of truth …
What do people compliment you on the most?
Never compliment you on?
I would love to say that people compliment me on my stunning beauty and curvaceous body but then I’d be lying and no one likes a liar.
When I was a wee girl, my Italian aunts use to pinch my cheeks and tell me how “carina” I was. In Italian, the word “Carina” means cute or sweet. It has more meaning in connection with ones personality though than it does in relation to their appearance. So, in a nutshell, my aunts all thought I was cutsey, sweet.
When I got older and entered high school, I began to be complimented on my legs and my big brown eyes. Yep, I had a set of pretty nice legs, albeit on the shorter side being that I’m not that tall but heck, I’ll take a nice legs compliment any day. Oh, and in my late twenties, while on a vacation in Mexico, I entered a sexy legs contest and won 3rd place. Pretty cool huh? Ten women in the contest, the winner had legs as long as a flagpole and her runner up looked like Pamela Anderson. I think the runner up placed second for other reasons but we won’t go there in this post. Third place for me was pretty cool.
And now, as a Mother, I mostly get compliments from my kids. My work friends may compliment me on new shoes or a purse but it’s my little girls who tell me how beautiful I am on a daily basis. Bless their little hearts. My teen smiles at me and sometimes compliments my jewelry or shoes but I’m just not that cool anymore … that is, until she secretly borrows my clothes or steals my boots! Shhh … I don’t let on that I know 😛
Really though, the only compliments I seek these days are those that come from my husband. Although I may not always believe him when he tells me I look cute or sexy … usually because I’ve just rolled out of bed and have eye make-up smudged underneath my eyes and my hair is a big mess … it’s nice to hear him tell me so. I make sure to tell him when he’s looking pretty darn handsome too.
After all, who doesn’t like to be complimented?
It makes you feel good.
