We all survived the first day back to school and work in the first month of the new year! Yay!
This new year of 2011 has brought along a few changes to our little family. Today, Daddy started a new job and had to commute into the city for the first time in rush hour traffic. I’m sure he loved it! Up until now, Daddy was the one getting the girls ready in the mornings and transporting them to daycare. I was the one up at the crack of dawn and commuting into the city. It was wonderful having those early mornings to myself. I became very close friends with Starbucks.
Now Mommy’s in charge of getting the girls dressed, fed and transported to daycare in the mornings. Daddy gets to enjoy his nice, quiet commute into work. This morning went well considering the girls have been so use to sleeping in every day of their Christmas vacation. We were all up, dressed, primped and fed by 7:30am with the exception of Little H who always follows the beat of her own drum. Grandpa came early to help with the fuss and once I left for my late commute into the city, he dropped the girls off to daycare for me. Thank goodness for grandpa’s!
I got into work on time and even had a few moments to spare to chat with colleagues about the highlights of their Christmas break. Coffee was made and ready for me. I was ready for the day!
I know my mornings aren’t going to be as quiet and relaxing as I’ve been accustomed to them being, but there’s something to be said about getting to see your kids off to school in the mornings or at least to be able to eat breakfast with them. I think the girls were happy too!
Looking forward to more changes in the new year and enjoying life as it comes to us.
