Do you ever feel like all you do is clean and it’s never-ending? I do! Sometimes, I get so overwhelmed with household chores I turn into a big, old grump! Don’t believe me? Ask my husband.
I’ve come up with a solution. I don’t know if it’ll work but if I don’t try it out, I may stay a grump forever. I sat down today and drew up a schedule of household chores. By household chores I mean the bigger jobs like laundry, floor washing, toilet cleaning, etc. and not the ordinary day chores like washing dishes and sweeping floors. Get it? Good.
So, I divided the chores all by days of the week. Since I work Mondays, Tuesdays and alternate Wednesdays, most of the load of chores get dumped onto Thursdays and Fridays.
Mondays ~ one load of regular laundry, folded and put-away.
Tuesdays ~ one load of regular laundry, folded and put-away.
Wednesdays ~ one load of regular laundry, remove dust from furniture
Thursdays ~ clean 3 bathrooms including tubs, showers, toilets, counter tops, floors
Fridays ~ wash kitchen floor, vacuum carpets
Saturdays ~ swiffer bedroom floors, delicate laundry including bed sheets
Sundays ~ rest
I typed up my schedule, printed it out and posted it on the fridge. I brought attention to it by introducing it to my family. They know the schedule is to help me keep up with chores but I advised them that if anyone wanted to help with a chore on any particular day, I wouldn’t mind at all.
They smiled nicely at me … my husband and teen didn’t say a thing except give each other looks and try not to laugh. My two youngest girls quickly volunteered to help me do one of Thursdays chores right away. Sweet things.
I’m sticking to my schedule no matter what anyone thinks. I’m a planner and a seeker of organization. I need it to survive.
Will keep you all posted!
