Ever since I can remember, I have always needed things to look forward to. Birthday parties, outings with friends, the movies, a road-trip, a date night, shopping or a wedding even. Sound crazy? I know. I’m not though, really.
I especially find that I need things to look forward to during the Winter months. Winter, for me, usually comes with periodic bouts of depression. I feel like I’m dragging my butt, always tired, moody and bored. Personally, I think it’s the lack of sunshine and the limited amount of activities you can do in Winter weather. Add having little ones to care for who can’t just up and go at the drop of a hat like adults can, only adds more challenge to the situation.
Winter just doesn’t work for me.
It comes as no surprise to me or anyone who knows me that I’m at my best and feeling happiest during the Spring and Summer months. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone when I say that just seeing sunshine makes all the difference in the world on how I feel. I am definitely a warm weather girl and to go even further, if granted a do-over in life, I would most certainly try out the surfer chick thing for a while. Beach, sun, waves, bikini, tan, laying around, boarding = what more could you ask for? My kind of lifestyle!
I am literally counting down the days to Spring! In fact, I am counting down the days to Mexico! My parents have so kindly paid for all of us kids and grand kids to go on a family vacation to Los Cabos. We’re all so excited about the trip we can barely contain ourselves. I, personally, am marking off the days as we go on a calendar. Seven full days of sunshine = absolute paradise to me.
So although Spring is upon us in a matter of six weeks or so, I am really looking forward to a tropical vacation with my extended family. It cannot come any sooner. I will cherish every moment of the trip, even with the crazy stuff that usually happens when all my family gets together. Warmth and relaxation is exactly what the doctor has ordered for this Mama!
What things are you looking forward to come this Spring? Summer?
