It’s that time again. Books, books and more books. We sure do love books and reading in our house.
How about you?
This month I am highlighting a few more books my girls absolutely love reading before bed. The first one is called, Alice the Fairy!
This book was a gift from Grandma Mary and it was a perfect gift for Little B because she’s so into fairies. From the author of the No David! book collection, comes a story for little girls.
Alice is the most adorable, precocious girl, who dresses up as a fairy (and is therefore a “temporary fairy.” One has to go to a special school to become a permanent fairy.) The author captures a little girl (like many 2-5 year olds) who hates to eat broccoli and take baths (so she hopes to use her magic wand to turn her bath into strawberry jello.) The story is funny and very imaginative. The illustrations are wonderful and fun.
The next David Shannon book I intend to add to our collection is A Bad Case of Stripes.
The girls have seen this book in the bookstore and have already added it to their wish list.
It is an award-winning, humorous story about the importance of being yourself. On the first day of school, after Camilla refuses to eat her Lima beans in front of friends, she finds herself covered with stripes. With a little help, she learns the secret of accepting her true self, in spite of her peculiar ailment. So what if not everyone loves Lima beans!
