Last weekend, my family and I were fortunate to be able to go away on a little trip. Although we didn’t go very far, the place we visited holds a special place in my heart.
When I was 12, my parents bought into a resort place called Beachwood Park. The place is located in Birch Bay, Washington in the USA. Back then, the resort park was small and quaint. People owned their own plot of land which accommodated their stationary trailers. Everyone knew everyone by first name. We were all like one big happy family!
As a kid, my family and I spent many weekends and summers at Beachwood Park. We landscaped our plot of land and made it cozy and comfortable. Our lot had a communal fire pit where we spent many a night sitting by the fire talking and roasting marshmallows. Sometimes we told ghost stories. Other times we even sang songs. We pretty much grew up going to Beachwood until we all got jobs or headed off to College. *Sniff*.
Now as a Mother with my own family, it means so much to me when we get the opportunity to go stay with my parents at their place within the Beachwood Resort. The park has changed over the years and expanded to include Coast to Coast members who also share the park with the original members. Recently, my parents expanded and updated their place to accommodate all of their kids and grand kids. I so appreciate my parents for keeping the place. It is full of memories for us.
This is the main pool area equipped with a kids pool, youth pool, youth sauna and hot tub. There is plenty of space for lounging in chairs or sitting in the shade under an umbrella at a patio table. Not seen in this photo to the far right is an adult section complete with a pool, hot tub, washrooms, sauna and fitness centre.
This is the playground area for kids. Three different pieces of equipment for three different age groups of children. Behind this area and not in view is a convenient General Store. The green grassy area encompasses a soccer field and a baseball diamond. At the opposite end of the playground are tennis courts.
The park grounds are always clean, kept nicely landscaped and super safe for kids to ride bikes or walk around. In this photo, big sis, medium sis and little sis are walking back to my parent’s place from the playground. It’s time for lunch!
~ Thank you Mom and Dad for providing me, my sisters and our families with a place from our childhood. Every time we visit we get to share those memories with our kids and make new ones. ~
