I love that I love to read.
Plain and simply put, I have a passion for books.
“According to Wikipedia, the word Passion (from the Ancient Greek verb πάσχω (paskho) meaning to suffer) is a term applied to a very strong feeling about a person or thing. Passion is an intense emotion compelling feeling, enthusiasm, or desire for something“.
As dorky as it may sound to some, I get really excited over books. New ones, old ones, it really doesn’t matter. I love collecting children’s books and I love reading adult fiction.
Reading allows me to escape into new and old worlds. Books allow me to live in the shoes of those who are unlike myself or just like myself. I am able to experience, through words, the struggles and misfortunes of others as well as feel the joy and excitement of new love.
Books allow me to take short journeys into the lives and experiences I may not otherwise ever come to know.
Books allow me to identify with and meet characters I love and dislike. There is something to be said about placing yourself emotionally into the shoes of someone else.
Books are food for thought.
Currently, I’m reading Water for Elephants by Sarah Gruen.
Other books on my bedside table that are waiting their turn to be read are:
Dreams of Joy by Lisa See
ROOM by Emma Donaghue
If you love reading fiction as much as I do, I recommend these three books. Although I haven’t read Dreams of Joy or Room as of yet, they come highly recommended by book store staff and good friends.
I hope you enjoy them.
