This past week, the girls wanted to paint.
What else is new?
Out came the paint and the brushes.
Then we decided to do something a little different. Something I’ve done in the past with my first graders.
For marble painting you will need:
a few small bowls or containers
a cake tray or shoe box lid
A bowl full of water and a cloth to rise of fingers and marbles.
You place a piece of white paper flat in the box lid and fasten it down with tape so it doesn’t move.
Then you place the marbles covered in paint in the center of the page and start tilting the lid from side to side to make the marbles move across the paper back and forth.
You repeat this process over and over again while recoating the marbles with new paint each time until your paper is covered with different lines in different colours all layered over each other.
Your finished product looks something like this.
The kids can do this for hours if they’re older and more independent. With little ones, I recommend they be supervised as they will need help and guidance.
A great art project that has endless possibilities for variation!
