It’s not every day that you find a friend who stays in your life for a long time.
I’ve been fortunate to have had a best friend all my life. A friend I met on the first day of Kindergarten.
And through my years of school, many friends have come and gone.
A few friends; however, have stubbornly decided to stick around.
There is something so special about staying in touch with childhood friends. Maybe it’s because they hold the key to the special box of memories you secretly hide within the depths of your heart. Maybe it’s because they were there for you through your most difficult times growing up. Or maybe because you shared so many wonderful times together. Times you never want to forget.
For me, it’s all of the above.
And these two girls are childhood friends I’m so happy to still be in contact with after all these years.
We first met in the fifth grade when I transferred from another school to theirs. They kindly welcomed me into their circle and the rest is history.
Margit & Shelly ~ this blog post is a tribute to you to say thank you for being there for me throughout all of the ups and down we experienced through our school years. As you already know, I have fond memories of the both of you and I’m so glad we can still get together every once in a while now that we’re adults.
I think that all of us have grown up to be fabulous people and I know you’ll agree with me.
Here’s to being friends until we’re old ladies getting together for tea in one of our old folks homes. Or better yet, maybe we’ll end up in the same retirement boat! (private joke)
I cannot end this post without giving a special mention to the rest of the friends in our circle … Corinne, Sandy, Dione, Shelley, Sylvia, Lyle, Ian, Rick, Peter.
Cheers … to another 31 years!
On another note, the winner of the Mary Kay Make-Up giveaway from last week is … (drum roll, please) Bianca from Bits of Bee!
