One of the benefits of only working part time is being home to enjoy moments with our children. In the last few weeks, I have been on more field-trips than I can ever remember going on as a kid myself.
Our latest trip, was out to the Surrey Nature Centre.
As you can see from the photos above, we were dressed for the weather and the terrain. The one and a half hour workshop had us talking about animals and exploring the scents and sounds of the outdoors. Our field-trip ended with a fabulously fun scavenger hunt!
On another note, hubby and I decided that this year, our little family was going to take advantage of the winter sports accessible to us here where we live. Sports like skating, snow shoeing and skiing are all within an hour drive of our home.
We decided to start with skating first.
Being that hubby, Teen B and myself can already skate enough to keep ourselves standing, we focused our attention on the wee girls, Little B and Little H.
After a few skating sessions, Little B went out on her own without the skating helper determined to do tricks and skate with the rest of the grown-ups. She’s one determined little girl.
As for Little H, she is content to scoot around the ice using the skating helper until she decides it’s time for a snack. Popcorn and juice. She’s easy to please.
Our next adventure? A trip up to the mountains for a day of snowshoeing.
What winter activities do you participate in where you live?
