Every summer, we try to go on a few family adventures and camping is always one of them. This year, we took the girls to Manning Provincial Park which is located an hour passed Hope in beautiful British Columbia.
We stayed at Lightening Lake campgrounds. We had the best campsite in the place. Number 105. The girls found a ready-made tree fort for them to hide in and we were close to the flush-able toilets and playground.
We spent our second day at the lake where we had a picnic. After lunch, we rented a kayak and went fishing. Little B reeled in a fish within the first 5 minutes of being on the lake. She was pretty impressed with herself. The rest of our day was spent watching the adorable Golden-back Squirrels that inhabited the entire area surrounding the lake. There they stood, in front of their holes waiting for generous children to feed them sunflower seeds and peanuts.
We ended our fun camping trip with a special lunch at Joe’s Restaurant Lounge in Hope, BC. We sat on the patio, sporting our sunglasses and ate the most delicious lunch meal one could find in such a small town.
As sad as we were to have our camping trip come to an end, there’s truth to be found in that saying … “There’s no place like home!’.
And having said that, rest assured we’re already planning our next adventure.
