The month of May is always filled with endless events and activities. Two out of our three children have birthdays in May. Our daughter, Little B, turned nine this May and wanted to have a …. get this … SPY themed birthday party.
A SPY party.
And she wanted to host this birthday party in our very own home.
Let it be known that I instantly tried to sway her way from this idea as I knew it would require endless hours of planning, buying and organizing on my part and, quite honestly, I just wanted to book a venue and pay big $ to others to do all the work. Lazy mom, yes.
However, my sweet, kind and creative teenage daughter – Brielle – stepped up to the plate and offered to plan and organize this TOP SECRET birthday party that would end up housing 18 girls in my house at once. We couldn’t possible NOT invite everyone in her class for fear that someone’s feelings would be hurt to be excluded. God bless, Little B’s heart. I raised her well.
After much Googling and Pinterest’ing on-line, my life saver of a teenage daughter collected enough tips, tricks and ideas to fully implement a SPY ACADEMY in our house within a small budget.
The invitees were greeted at our door by two TOP SPY AGENTS and searched for weapons and bombs before entering the academy.
They were asked to register where they were finger printed and assigned FBI TRAINING badges.
Here were the five training stations.
Maneuvering in-between, beneath, over and around the red rays to reach the top secret treasure.
The minefield is a very dangerous place.
Aim, shoot and fire!
DECIPHERING SECRET CODES
Hard at work using spy decoder to unravel the secret message!
Where there was an endless supply of snacks! Check out the birthday girl’s smile!
OPENING TOP SECRET PACKAGES
Spin the bottle to decide which present to open first never gets old!
The missing birthday cake.
The cake went missing at one point until Agent Brooklyn came to the rescue!
All the agents taking a break after the training stations.
The goodie bags.
Needless to say, a lot of fun was had in the 90 minute time period 18 nine-year-old girls took over my house. These goodie bags were filled with the following items a SPY agent would need on a mission: red licorice, a mustache, communication device, FBI badge, plastic baton, gun, dark glasses, a spy watch & binoculars.
And all I got? A messy house to clean-up …. BUT … it was all for a great cause! The party was a hit and my nine-year-old was as happy as a SPY girl could be!
