We went on our first camping trip of the season.
This past weekend, we ventured out to camp along Alouette Lake.
Alouette lake is found within Golden Ears Provincial Park in the Maple Ridge area of British Columbia. You can find many interesting facts about the area here, including which three Hollywood movies were filmed within the provincial park.
Only an hour drive, the campground was conveniently located close to our home in White Rock, British Columbia.
While I’m usually very camera happy, I only managed to take two landscape photos during our stay at the park but you can find a gallery of photos of the park here.

The forested area was covered in a beautiful carpet of ferns and moss.

Alouette Lake ~ where we spent two days enjoying the sun and playing in the water.

The scenery and the weather were nothing short of amazing. The kids AND the parents were completely entertained.

The kids loved that Alouette Campground had a fully equipped playground area. I loved that there were flush-able toilets but that’s another story.
I was amazed at how clean the park was, washrooms included. You could buy bundles of wood at $9 each and the grounds had a small grocery store which sold last minute food items campers often forget to bring along like condiments, eggs, milk, supplies to make S’mores and more.

We were fortunate to have friends join us on our first camping trip this summer and from what I could see, their girls had a great time. After all is said and done, it’s really about having fun and making memories the kids will hold onto forever.
And honestly, camping is a great excuse to lounge by a fire and stuff my face with S’mores while the husband plays guitar and the girls sing “Bear in Tennis Shoes” over and over and over again. Priceless.
What camping trips have you taken this summer? Any locations you think I should try?
