One of my favourite months of the year is September.
Not because I get my “me” time back but because the idea of a new school year brings with it excitement and new adventures. As a child, I loved getting new school supplies and clothes. It was always a very exciting time of year for me.
Nothing has changed now that I’m a grown-up and a Mom. I get just as excited for back to school time only now I’ve transferred that excitement onto my girls.
Before September of every year, we make a day of it and all go back to school shopping together. We get new lunch kits, backpacks, clothes and shoes!
This year, even I got a new lunch box. Why not? I’m a teacher. I work in a school and I bring my lunch every day. So, a nifty lunch box is a necessity no matter what anyone says.
Check out this year’s nifty lunch bag.

It’s a Lug. It’s insulated, spacious enough to fit all my containers and water bottle and has a side pocket that holds my utensils too. I SO love it. It serves its purpose and looks pretty cool too.

Little H absolutely freaked out when I told her she was getting this High Sierra backpack from Staples. She was mesmerized by all the compartments, side pockets, and zippers. So many places to store her stuff! She chose the colour pink because … well, it’s her favourite colour. Surprised?
Brooklyn chose a more trendy backpack. This Foxy pack in hot pink comes with a multitude of zippers, compartments and two side pockets. Her favourite parts of the bag are the trinkets on the end of the zippers. The front of the pack has a pin of two diamond apples. It’s definitely cute. A little bit more sophistication now that she’s a third grader.
Our go-to place for school supplies is Staples. They are good about keeping school supply lists from the surrounding district on file so supply shopping is easy and quick. You can usually find most items on sale and those that are not can be found at other local stores. As a teacher, I get quite a few of my resources like bulletin board trim, stickers, notebooks, duotangs and name tags from Staples because they have a whole isle full of stuff teachers love and need.

One back to school memory I have is Sears. 🙂 We’d always hit up Sears for clothes and shoes and the funny part is the store hasn’t changed all that much over the years!
I remember being so excited for starting kindergarten that I remember pushing my mom out of the classroom. So much different from my sister who tried chasing the car. :/
My favourite back to school memory is going supplies shopping! It’s fun roaming through the aisles and picking what I want for school.
My favourite back-to-school memories are similar to yours, buying school supplies and new clothes. I always loved new books and sharpening my pencils. And I love that lug backpack!
I used to love back to school shopping for clothes and school supplies with my mom! Such a fun tradition that I looked forward to every year. 🙂
Cute backpack choices!
This year, we had a back school since my girls are now enrolled in public school. So we did the whole nine yards too. I was a bit surprised that even my hubby joined in on the shopping! LOL
My favourite moment was dad picking me up from school because he’d get me sweet treats that mom would be reluctant to do
